Who remembers the ice cream truck that used to roll through your neighborhood when you were a kid? I sure do!

On warm summer nights, we'd eagerly wait in anticipation to hear the sound of its playful music and sing-songy bell drifting through the neighborhood to let us know the ice cream truck was on its way to our street. Mom or Dad would hand my brother and me a dollar bill, and we'd run out into the yard to await the truck's arrival ... all the while thinking about what we wanted to get that night.

Would it be an Italian ice? Or a red, white, and blue firecracker pop?

Or the ever-favorite Orange Creamsicle?

Oh, how I loved those ice cream truck treats. Somehow choosing them from an ice-cream adorned musical truck and enjoying them out on the front lawn made them taste just even that much better.

Well, the other day our sweet 7-year-old little Miss H. and I stumbled upon a way to enjoy the fabulous flavors of an Orange Creamsicle in an easy drink form. Which is just great for when the ice cream truck isn't around.

And it only takes two ingredients to make our simple little Orange Creamsicle drink ... orange soda and cream soda. That's it!

We stumbled on this tasty combination the other day when we were recipe testing the mixture for making an Orange Creamsicle Shirley Temple {which I'll share soon} after we'd enjoyed a classic Shirley Temple drink. As is our standard mode of operation, little Miss H. and I were tasting each ingredient by itself and then a little bit of the mixture after the addition of each ingredient.

It's a practice Miss H. started when she first began helping me out in the kitchen ... because she's super curious about each and every ingredient, and about each and every change in flavor as things are added. Which I absolutely love about her. Her curiosity and intense drive to understand things and how they work together is just amazing. And I do my best to indulge it.

And so through our tasting, we came to realize that the very simple mixture of just orange soda and cream soda together tastes AMAZING.

And it's such a simple way to enjoy an Orange Creamsicle drink!

To make one, just fill a glass with ice and pour in equal parts orange soda and cream soda. Top with an orange wedge or slice, if you'd like, and pop in a fun straw for sipping.

If you'd like to add the creaminess like the creamy center of the classic Orange Creamsicle popsicle, top the drink with a shot of spray-can whipped cream. We didn't do that with ours, but it's easy enough to do to get that creamy element.

Such an easy way to enjoy that ever-favorite Orange Creamsicle flavor, don't you think?
