When it comes to Christmas cookie treats, it can't get any easier than these Christmas White Chocolate-Dipped Sugar Wafers.

Inspired by our 4th of July Red White & Blue Chocolate-Dipped Sugar Wafers, this Christmas version of these sprinkle-adorned beauties are super simple to make.  They take just three basic ingredients -- packaged sugar wafers, white bark coating, and sprinkles.  And take all of about 20 to 30 minutes to make.

Why do we love these tasty treats so much?  Because these fun little white chocolate sugar wafers are fabulous in oh-so-many ways.  They're:

  • Easy - Can you melt chocolate in the microwave & sprinkle sprinkles?  Then you've got this.
  • Can be made last minute - They take basically no time to prepare, and basically no time to set.  A batch can be made in about 20 to 30 minutes, tops.
Whether it be for a Christmas day cookie tray, Christmas cookie exchange, or fun Christmas Eve family activity -- these easy treats are just perfect.
  • Festive - What's more festive than a fun mix of Christmas sprinkles?
  • Adorable - A cute little 3-bite size.  And again ... sprinkles.
  • Kid-friendly - Kids love them!  And if you're so inclined, kids can make them, too.  Our 9-year-old daughter whipped up about 20 of them by herself in no-time flat.
  • Crowd pleasing - Adored by both the kids and grown-ups, alike.  A platter of these babies disappears in a flash.

If you're looking for a fun and easy Christmas treat to make for your holiday festivities, absolutely put these on your list.  Whether it be for a Christmas day cookie tray, Christmas cookie exchange, or fun Christmas Eve family activity -- these easy treats are just perfect.

And hey, Santa probably wouldn't mind finding a few left out for him on Christmas Eve, too!

To make a batch of these Christmas White Chocolate-Dipped Sugar Wafers, start by melting some white chocolate.

Use a package of white candy melts or white bark coating.  Melt it together with a tiny bit of shortening in the microwave per the package directions (typically in 30 second intervals, stirring in between each time).

Adored by both the kids and grown-ups alike, a platter of these babies disappears in a flash.

Choose a small deep bowl or a tall narrow microwave-safe container to melt the white chocolate in.  These container shapes make it easier to get good coverage when dipping the sugar wafers in.

Dip 3/4 of each sugar wafer cookie in the candy coating, and then let the excess coating drip off back into the container.  I very gently jiggle the sugar wafer a few times to help the excess fall off, and create a nice even thin coating of white chocolate.

As you dip more sugar wafers and the amount of melted white chocolate in the container gets less and less, tip the container slightly as you dip to help get better coverage up the sugar wafer.

Immediately sprinkle each sugar wafer with sprinkles while the chocolate coating is still wet, and set it on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or aluminum foil.

You can use any combination of Christmas sprinkles, like red, green, and white non-pareils mixChristmas tree confetti sprinkles or holly berry sprinkles

I find it easiest to sprinkle the sprinkles over a plate with a little lip on the edge or well in the center.  That way, sprinkles aren't bouncing off all over your house - the plate catches at least most of the spillover.

Once the dipped sugar wafers are placed on a wax paper or aluminum foil-lined baking sheet, let the wafers stand to allow the chocolate coating to set up.  The chocolate will set in a matter of minutes.

And that's all there is to whipping up a batch of these fun little treats!

There are so many different Christmas sprinkles out there to choose from, and any variety will work for these festive sugar wafers.  Just find ones you love, and you'll love the look of your sugar wafers, too.

The photo above shows a few sprinkle combination ideas.  Here are the sprinkles I used from right to left (front to back in the first row) in the photo above:

  1. red, green, and white non-pareils mix
  2. holly berry sprinkles
  3. red and green confetti sprinkles with white non-pareils

I especially love the combination of red and green confetti sprinkles with white non-pareils, shown in detail in the photo below.  The red and green confetti discs really pop against the white chocolate coating, and the white non-pareils add a subtle bit of texture in the background.
