Classic Homemade Chex Mix
Nothing beats homemade taste. So when that craving for a salty-crunchy snack hits, skip the grocery store aisle and whip up some tasty classic Homemade Chex Mix yourself!
Think back. Way, way back. Do you remember a time before pre-made Chex Mix was available to buy in the stores? A time before, when that crunchy-salty craving hit, all you had to do was toss a bag of this beloved snack mix in your grocery cart?
A time when you actually had to bake up a batch of Chex Mix yourself?
I sure do!
And for me, the bagged stuff doesn't hold a candle to the fabulous taste of homemade.
Classic Homemade Chex Mix is one of those foods that holds very fond memories for me. My Mom used to make a huge batch every year at Christmas, and ... even with all the Christmas sweets ... it was my favorite holiday treat. I especially loved the pieces that got extra buttery and salty.
When I was growing up, my Dad was a mailman who delivered mail on the same route in a small town for years. Which means the people on his mail route knew him very well ... and took very good care of him. At Christmas time? Dad was showered with gifts from his customers ... homemade cookies, boxes of chocolates, cash gifts, the best scones you've ever had in your life.
And bags upon bags of homemade Chex Mix.
Oh, how I loved to see him come home with a bag of this crunchy homemade goodness! I loved each and every one. But, truth be told, Mom's was always still the best.
Now don't get me wrong, I certainly don't turn down a bag of the pre-made grocery store stuff. But when it comes right down to it, nothing beats homemade taste.
So the next time that craving for a salty-crunchy snack hits, skip the grocery store aisle and whip up some classic Homemade Chex Mix yourself! Not only will you be enjoying homemade taste, you just never know what wonderful memories it may create.
