prep time: 25 Mcook time: 5 Mtotal time: 30 M
ingredients:
- 4 to 6 lb. fully cooked bone-in ham
- 1/2 c. pure maple syrup
- 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
instructions:
How to cook Maple Crock Pot Ham
- Lightly spray crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Remove ham from packaging and discard any flavoring packet. Check end of bone for a plastic cap and, if present, discard. With a sharp knife, score skin & fat of the ham about 1/8-inch deep by making cuts about every 2 inches all the way across the ham {this allows flavor to more easily penetrate into the ham while cooking}. Place ham in crock pot.
- In a bowl, whisk together maple syrup, applesauce, and cinnamon. Pour maple mixture over ham.
- Place cover on crock pot. Cook ham for 3 to 4 hours on HIGH or 5 to 6 hours on LOW, until meat is tender and internal temperature reaches 140°F. Baste once with juices in the crock pot. {Do not baste repeatedly as removing the lid from the slow cooker drops the temperature and increases cooking time.}
- Remove ham to a serving platter or cutting board. Tent with foil to keep warm and allow to rest 10 to 15 minutes before slicing. Slice and serve.
TRACEY'S NOTES
- If you'd like, drizzle a tiny bit of warm maple syrup over the ham slices for an added touch of maple sweetness!
