Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Ham
This slow cooker brown sugar ham is so flavorful and tender, and has just a five minute prep time. It's the perfect main dish for your holiday celebration!
What's your favorite holiday main course? Up until this year, I would have said turkey every single time. I've always been a big fan of turkey, I have a super great turkey breast recipe, and it has been my go-to for holidays. And then for Easter this year, on a total whim, I picked up a spiral cut ham at the grocery store and threw it in the crockpot. When I carved it for dinner a few hours, the unanimous consensus from my family was that it was awesome!
I've never been a huge fan of pork (and in fact didn't eat pork for about ten years because of a bad experience when I was in high school), but the ham I pulled out of that slow cooker was so flavorful, tender, and juicy! My kids kept ooh-ing and aah-ing over how amazing it was, and asking me to make it for every holiday from now on. Since it went over so well with my family, I've made it again a few times since Easter, and I love that it turns out perfectly every time!
When I'm not making this ham for a holiday or special occasion, I usually cut the slices off the bone and package them in 8-ounce portions in freezer safe bags. It actually freezes really well, and I can pull out a bag the night before to have sliced ham on hand for packing lunches the next day. This ham is unbelievably easy, but still has some really amazing flavor. It's perfect for your holiday table!
Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Ham
7-10 pound bone-in spiral cut ham
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
2 cups pineapple juice
Place the ham in the slow cooker. Rub the brown sugar all over the surface of the ham. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, dijon mustard, and pineapple juice. Pour the pineapple juice mixture evenly over the ham, and cover. (If the ham is too big for the lid to fit on the slow cooker, wrap aluminum foil over the top of it instead.) Cook on low 4-5 hours, then spoon the juice over the top of the ham. Let rest 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
