Thin Mint Cocktail
Grab your cocktail shaker and enjoy the fabulous flavors of Thin Mints in cocktail form! A Thin Mint cocktail is sure one tasty and fun way to enjoy those favorite flavors of Thin Mints.
"Cookie season" is in full swing! And we all know and love the most popular Girl Scout cookie, right? the famous Thin Mints. With their chocolate covered minty crispy wafer, they're hard to resist, for sure. The flavors's so hard to resist in fact, I even made my own Christmas homemade Thin Mints this past Christmas.
But what if you don't want to enjoy a Thin Mint cookie at all? What if you'd just like to enjoy those favorite flavors of Thin Mints in a different way? Like in a fun cocktail form, perhaps. Well, you can.
That's right, I've got a different way to enjoy your favorite Girl Scout cookie ... the Thin Mint cocktail.
This fun cocktail is a combination of creme de menthe, creme de cacao, vanilla vodka, and Bailey's Irish cream mixed with some 1/2-&-1/2 for creaminess. The creme de menthe and creme de cacao give this cocktail the mint-chocolate flavor to match that of its classic cookie inspiration.
And creme de menthe also gives it its pretty green color, too.
Creme de menthe comes in both a green version and a clear version. To get its minty green color, make the cocktail with green creme de menthe instead of the clear, of course.
But creme de cacao impacts its color, too.
Creme de cacao comes in two color versions, as well a dark brown version and a clear version. When mixing up this Thin Mint cocktail for its photo shoot, I wondered if you could use either color just fine. In the past I have always used clear creme de cacao ... but figured if I was curious about using dark creme de cacao, you all might be, too. So I gave it a try.
When it comes to taste? Yes, you can use either color of creme de cacao. They both give the cocktail the chocolatey flavor it needs.
When it comes to the cocktail's color? I wouldn't consider the two interchangeable. Not if you want the minty-green color of the cocktails in my photos ... which is achieved using clear creme de cacao.
Here's a comparison of Thin Mint cocktails made with each color of creme de cacao:
As you can see, the one on the left is a pretty minty green. It's made with clear creme de cacao. The one on the right, made with brown creme de cacao, is more of a grayish-pea'ish green. The flavor of the two is the same, but I find the one on the left to be unappealing in its color.
I suggest sticking with clear creme de cacao to get its minty green hue.
While this cocktail is fabulous for enjoying on any day, its green color and touch of Bailey's Irish cream make it just perfect for St. Patrick's Day sipping, too.
So if you'd like to enjoy the fabulous flavors of Thin Mints in a fun cocktail form, grab your cocktail shaker, measure out some creme de menthe, creme de cacao, and Bailey's with your jigger, and shake them up!
St. Patrick's Day, "cookie season," or not, it's sure one tasty and fun way to enjoy those favorite flavors of Thin Mints.
Thank you for stopping by . We'd love to have you back soon!
