Hawaiian Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches Give your party sandwiches a decidedly Hawaiian twist with a hearty and flavorful dose of pineapple. They'll be gobbled up in no time at your next party or game day get-together!
Everybody knows and loves the ever-favorite Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches, right?
Loaded with ham and cheese, slathered with a tasty poppy seed-butter spread, and served up warm on little pull-apart dinner rolls, these party classics are always one of the first items gobbled up at any get-together. And I can truly say, our family just adores them and certainly does our fair share of the gobbling whenever these party sandwiches are around.
But do you want to know what we like even better than classic Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches?
Hawaiian Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches.
Just like the classic version, still loaded with ham and cheese, still slathered with a tasty butter spread (minus the poppy seeds), and still served up warm on little pull-apart dinner rolls. But this time, given a decidedly Hawaiian twist with green onion, green pepper, and a hearty dose of pineapple!
It's a flavor combination we adore even more than the original.
So the other day when I decided to make a batch for us to snack on while watching football, I took a quick trip to our nearby Food Lion to grab what I needed.
Seems I'm at our Food Lion about every-other-day getting what I need for our family and for my food blogging stuff. I love how I know I can count on Food Lion to have what I need, and I love that I know I can get in-and-out quickly and easily, with high-quality products that won't break the bank, too.
Easy, fresh, and affordable ... just the way I like my grocery shopping.
I recently discovered, though, that Food Lion has something to make my grocery shopping and saving even easier the Food Lion Mobile App, available for both iOS and Android devices (Food Lion Mobile App - iTunes | Food Lion Mobile App - Google Play).
Have you seen it?
It's loaded with great features to help save time and money when it comes to grocery shopping. And I know those are both things I love to save!
The Food Lion Mobile App puts weekly ads right at my fingertips ... that's right, I can access the weekly ads digitally right on my smart phone. I can also carry my MVP card digitally and scan it at checkout right on my smartphone screen. Or I can even use Food Lion's handy-dandy recipe finder to search for recipes and meal ideas based on different ingredients.
My favorite features, though, are the shopping list and digital coupons.
With the shopping list feature, I can easily stay on top of what I need ... digitally! With just a tap, I can add things to my list from Food Lion weekly ads, or coupons, or from recipe ideas. The list even lets me see and track which items have MVP savings or coupons, too.
But that's not even the coolest thing about the shopping list feature. Want to know what is?
I can sort my shopping list items by store aisle! Oh, you just don't even know how much I love that.
With the coupons feature, I can search for coupons that are a good fit for me and load them right onto my MVP card with just a tap. Then they're right there ready-to-go at checkout. It sure is a simple way to save.
I just love how easy and convenient the Food Lion Mobile App is, and I think you will, too.
It was the perfect convenient tool to help me on my Food Lion run to get what I needed for these tasty Hawaiian Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches.
Now just like with traditional Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches, to make this Hawaiian version, start by slathering a package of small Hawaiian sweet rolls with a seasoned butter-mustard mixture, and then pile on loads of deli-sliced ham and Swiss cheese.
But then don't stop there.
To give this version of party sandwiches a decidedly Hawaiian twist, top the ham and cheese layers with a generous sprinkling of sliced green onion, finely diced green pepper, and a hearty dose of pineapple.
It's a flavor combination we just adore.
For your next party or game day get-together, whip up a batch of these Hawaiian Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches. They're certainly a tasty twist on the classic favorite!
Not to mention, making them is almost as easy as using the Food Lion Mobile App.

prep time: 15 Mcook time: 25 Mtotal time: 40 M
ingredients:
- 2 (12-count) packages Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 1/2 lb. Swiss cheese slices
- 1/2 lb. mozzarella cheese slices
- 3/4 to 1 lb. sliced deli ham
- 1 (20 oz.) can pineapple tidbits, well drained
- ¼ c. sliced green onion
- 2 T. finely chopped green pepper
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 T. very finely chopped onion
- 1 ½ T. prepared yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- pinch salt
- pinch pepper
instructions:
How to cook Hawaiian Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches
- In a small bowl, mix together butter, onion, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- With a serrated knife, slice rolls open horizontally. Place each bottom portion on a sheet of aluminum foil {sprayed lightly with non-stick cooking spray} large enough to wrap up the full package of rolls. Spread the cut side of each top and bottom portion of the rolls evenly with butter mixture.
- Cover the bottom portion of the rolls with a layer of Swiss cheese slices. Pile cheese slices with a layer of ham. Sprinkle ham evenly with pineapple tidbits, sliced green onion, and green pepper. Top with mozzarella cheese slices. Place top portion of rolls on top.
- Wrap each set of rolls in foil. Bake at 350℉ for 20 – 25 minutes until heated through and cheese is melted. Serve warm.
TRACEY'S NOTES
- If you'd like, you can brush the tops of the rolls with about 2 tablespoons of melted butter before baking. This looks nice on the finished rolls. I actually prefer not to do this, however, because it makes for greasy fingers when eating the party sandwiches.
- Before wrapping the party sandwiches in foil to bake, use a serrated knife to cut them on their "lines" to separate them into individual sandwiches. This makes them much easier to grab and serve after baking ... without pulling all the filling out while trying to pull them apart.
